Why does the Account Finder show 2 numbers of fans for the same account?

For for the accounts that are related to other accounts (e.g. McDonald's US, UK, Canada, etc.), Facebook shows on each of these Pages the aggregated number of fans of all related accounts. The Account Finder provides you with 2 numbers:

Fans: the number of fans as displayed on Facebook;
Active fans: thanks to its ACE-ML™ (Actual Count Engine - Machine Learning), Nonli is able to provide a number of fans for each individual Facebook Page.
